TEAM BATTLE OF THE BITES COOK-OFF GUIDELINES
Please read all of the cook-off entry instructions and then register to enter the cook-off by clicking on the button.
TEAM
Each team will consist of three (3) people that contribute to the creation of the three different food submissions as follows: a. Meat – This entry must contain at least 90% meat. This meat category also includes vegan ‘meats’. b. Side Dish – This entry should complement the meat entry. c. Sweets Category – The entry must be a dessert.
ENTRY LIMITATIONS & FEES.
There must be three people for each team. The registration cost is $30 per team.
JUDGING
The contestant with the most points will be determined as the winner in each category. The highest score possible is 100 points. Judging will be determined by a panel of three judges and the public. The average of the judges scores will be added to the average of the public scores. a. Judges Scoring (highest possible scoring from the judges is 80 points). i. Taste (50 pts) ii. Overall Impression/Presentation (15 pts) iii. Creativity (15 pts) b. Public (highest possible scoring from the public is 20 points) i. The public will score each dish only on taste on a scale of 1 to 5. 1=not so good, 5=this is absolutely great. The average of the public scoring will equate to the following: 1 = 0 pts 2 = 5 pts 3 = 10 pts 4 = 15 pts 5 = 20 pts
RECIPES
Recipes will not be collected. However, each team is responsible for ensuring that all dishes are prepared exclusively by the members of their team. No outside assistance is permitted. All food items must be homemade. Dishes that have been purchased pre-cooked or pre-prepared from a store, restaurant, or catering service are not allowed. Each team member should be familiar with the ingredients used in their dish. If someone inquires about potential food allergens (such as nuts, dairy, gluten, or shellfish), the team should be able to clearly communicate what ingredients were used in the recipe. It is recommended to have a list of ingredients available to handout only to those that need clarification of ingredients.
FAIRNESS
Each contestant will be assigned a letter/number code upon arrival to Risen Church on December 31, 2025. This will assist in ensuring fairness and taking any bias out of the judging as the judges will not know who made which entry.
PREPARATION/ARRIVAL TIME
6. Preparation/Arrival Time . Each team will be asked to provide the following: a. 3 Plated Entries that will be given to each of the judges b. 50 Small Samples (4oz) of the team's three entries for the public to vote. Each team will be provided 3 plates and 150 4oz containers w/ lids (50 samples for each entry) that will be available upon arrival on 12/31/2025. Each contestant should arrive to Risen Church no later than 8:45pm and have plates ready for the judges and public by 9:30pm.
DEADLINE & PRIZE
The deadline to enter this contest is Sunday, December 28, 2025. Each team will receive a monetary gift.
